The
overall goal of the library automation project is to create
a single data repository that will improve the District’s
library management by providing a total “view”
of our library resources.

Library Automation
System
Destiny Library Manager™
Combines circulation, cataloging, searching, reporting and
management in one centrally installed library software system.
Web-based library automation that provides resource which
will maximize our library’s power to support students
and teachers, curriculum and instruction.
Library Automation:
Weeding
Involves a needs assessment
of the current collection
It is difficult to isolate library automation from the overall
mission and goals of the day to day library operation
Automation is a time consuming process
Weed, weed, weed!
Item has not circulated in five years
Library owns a later edition
Library owns multiple copies
Item is in poor condition
Library Automation:
Bar Coding
Create Patron records by
loading of the current student data from the student information
system into Destiny (i.e., Name, Grade levels, etc.)
Bar-coding of collection has been made easier by using duplicate
barcodes, one for the shelf list card and the other for the
item.
Each library has been assigned its own unique barcode
