Manhood Program and HEVN Meet At High School

The Roosevelt High School Manhood Program and HEVN held their first meeting last month in the school’s library.  The purpose of this group is to defer the violence that takes place in schools and communities. It is also to encourage the development of self-pride and respect for oneself and others according to the group’s organizer Mrs. Barbara Solomon and HEVN founder and Roosevelt School Board member Reverend Bishop J. Mackey. Both say the goal is to promote appreciation for life and to encourage academic excellence.  The group is exclusively for males grades 7 to 11 and meets monthly in the library.
