The
second component of Roosevelt Union Free School District’s
three-component approach to technology integration is a comprehensive
professional development program that develops both technology and
pedagogy skills. Both sets of skills are necessary for a teacher
to successfully impact student achievement through the integration
of technology
Pedagogy Skills
Technology Coordinator/Department
The Technology Department will work closely with
the Office of Curriculum and Instruction to organize teams of teachers
to develop technology-rich lessons through a formal process of Project-Based
planning. Each school will have representation on these district
level teams. The Technology Coordinator/Department along with a
consulting specialist will facilitate the process. During the planning/writing,
participants will come to know the theory and process; and spend
a majority of their time actually developing project plans that
meet the needs of their curriculum and integrate technology. The
project plans which consist of multiple lessons will be created
in an online lesson builder and will be available for teachers across
the district to access and use once completed and approved. As a
result of this curriculum planning/writing, teachers will:
1. learn about and experience project-based planning
2. explore various possibilities for integrating technology
3. create Project plans that integrate technology
4. learn the technology necessary to facilitate the project plans
they have created.
