Implementing an effective
technology plan depends on the dedication and hard work of several
people within the district.
Responsibility for an effective program begins
at the top and plays a vital role in building a shared vision for
how technology should be used to support student learning.
The Technology Department is also responsible for
acquiring and maintaining equipment associated with our local area
networks and future Wide Area Network. This includes networking
equipment, computers, and peripherals.
The Technology Department will also manage telecommunications,
including purchases and installs of telephones, telephone lines
and telephone equipment. The IT Department will also maintain equipment
for videoconferencing, instructional television and phone services.
In addition, the IT Department is responsible for guiding the creation
of district multimedia productions, and the web site.
The Technology Department coordinates all efforts
to provide the components necessary for a successful technology
plan. The guiding principle of the Department is to make the most
effective and equitable decisions for improving student achievement.
With this in mind, representatives from each Department meet regularly
to support each other’s initiatives. Without a coordinated
effort, inefficiencies in the system would result in under-utilization
of resources, low impact on student achievement, and an unacceptable
wasting of valuable funds.
The decision-making of the central technology
department will be enhanced by input received from the building
level administrators and classroom teachers.
